What Are Composite Decks?
A composite deck is made by combining plastics and wood fibers together and then extruding this blended material together to form boards. They contain about 50% wood dust from sawmills that is combined with recycled and virgin high density polyethylene (HDPE). This technique was first developed to make window and door frames that were moisture-resistant. Now, it is used to make beautiful decks for homeowners too!

Environmentally Friendly
You can use both recycled or non-recycled plastics and wood when producing a composite material, making this process quite environmentally friendly.
Better Traction than Vinyl
The rougher texture of a composite deck means that you will get better traction and are less likely to slip on it if it gets wet than if you walk on a vinyl deck.
Durable
The wood fibers found in composite boards help to improve the plastic's stiffness. This means that they are less likely to move as temperature go up and down making them more durable than vinyl.
Some composite manufacturers also bond a hard plastic shell to the exterior of their boards making them even more durable.
This coating makes the boards less likely to stain, fade, get scratched, or mold as well.
Easy Maintenance
Composite decks and fences never need to be painted, sanded, stained, or sealed, making them much easier to take care of than wood decks.
They do, however, need to be swept clean of leaves and other debris, and they need to be washed down periodically.
Attractive
Composite decks and fences look more like real wood than vinyl ones. This is because they are made with actual wood chips. They also come in a wide variety of colours.
